faq

frequently asked questions

  • Q. Who is eligible for NDIS funding?

To be eligible for NDIS funding, you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa. You need to be under 65 years of age and have a permanent or significant disability that impacts your ability to perform daily activities. Eligibility also depends on living in an NDIS-covered area.

  • Q. What is a NDIS service provider?

An NDIS service provider is an individual or organisation registered or unregistered with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) that delivers supports and services to participants. They help people with disabilities achieve their goals, improve independence, and enhance quality of life through tailored care and assistance.

  • Q. How long does NDIS support last for?

NDIS support is not time-limited—it lasts as long as you meet eligibility requirements. Once approved, you’ll have a personalised plan reviewed regularly (usually every 12 months) to ensure supports still meet your needs. If your situation changes, you can request a plan review at any time.

  • Q. How do I find a NDIS-registered provider in Australia?

You can find an NDIS-registered provider in Australia by using the NDIS Provider Finder tool on the official NDIS website, checking the NDIS Commission’s register of providers.

  • Q. How do I apply for funding from the NDIS?

To apply for NDIS funding, you’ll need to check if you meet the eligibility requirements and then submit an Access Request to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). This can be done by calling the NDIA on 1800 800 110 or completing an Access Request Form. You may also need to provide supporting documents from your GP or health professionals. Once approved, you’ll work with the NDIA to create your NDIS plan, which outlines the funding and supports available to you.
